1999 Surgery performed at the 20th Eye Camp in Nepal (near Dhamak, Charikot) staffed by Drs. Makino, Dr. Matsumoto and others.  Dr. Akura and others sent to Kedia Eye Hospital and Gaur Eye Hospital.  Surgical microscopes donated to Kedia Eye Hospital.
2000 Surgery performed in 226 patients at the 21st Nepal eye camp (Dhamak, Charikot) staffed by Dr. Matsumoto and Dr. Makino and others.  Supported a camp sponsored by the Hamoru, an NGO giving aids to Western India, by sending Dr. Kagotani and Dr. Akura.  We sent Mr. Hirosawa to Nepal Eye Hospital for the repair of the laser photocoagulation machine.  Examination and surgical machines and instruments including an ultrasound scanner donated to Kedia Eye Hospital.  Medical instruments including ultraviolet sterilizers donated to Gaur Eye Hospital as a support work based on the fund raised by the Volunteer Savings of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.  Dr. Naito (Tokushima University) sent to Gaur Eye Hospital as an instructor in surgery.  Punerwa Bridge constructed to secure access to Gaur Eye Hospital during the rainy season (a joint project with the "24-Hour TV").  Mr. Jar and Maya, ophthalmic assistants at Kedia Eye Hospital, invited for 2-month training at the Kushimoto Rehabilitation Center and other facilities.  Mr. Koirala, an ophthalmic assistant at Gaur Eye Hospital, invited for 2.5-month training at Matsumoto Eye Clinic.  Mr. Shiva invited for 1-month training at Sun Contact Lens, Co., Ltd.  Chairman of the Board of Director Kurozumi and secretary Kai sent to Nepal for on-site inspection.  Dr. Akura awarded a Gorkha Dakshin Bahu Decoration by the King of Nepal.
2001 Dispatch of a Nepal eye camp team withheld due to an outbreak of Maoist guerrilla activities.  Dr. Kuroda and Dr. Akura sent to support the 2nd India eye camp (Dharamsara) of the Hamoru.  Dr. Kurozumi and Dr. Naito sent for on-site inspection of Gaur and Kedia Eye Hospitals and instructions in surgery.  Phaco machine for cataract surgery donated to the two hospitals (a project in cooperation with the "24-Hour TV").  Mr. Sailes and Shivshankar, ophthalmic assistants at Kedia Eye Hospital, invited for 2-month training at the Kushimoto Rehabilitation Center, Inami, Nidek, and other facilities.  Mr. Shiwakoti, a technician of ophthalmic instruments trained by our association, awarded a prize in an essay contest sponsored by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.
2002 Dr. Kurozumi, Chairman of the Board of Director and the founder of the AOCA, died suddenly due to subarachnoid hemorrhage on March 7.  Our association appointed as an approved NPO by the Hyougo prefecture on October 15.  Extension of the contract of the Narayani Eye Care Project with the Nepalese Government signed (a joint project with Nippon Television Network Co.).  Dr. Naito sent to Kedia and Gaur Eye Hospitals for guidance in ultrasound cataract surgery.  Surgical microscopes donated to Gaur Eye Hospital.
2003

Dr. Akura, a new chief director of AOCA, who lives in Kushimoto in Wakayama prefecture started to work on weekends in Asagiri Hospital near from Nishinomiya where AOCA's secretariate is so that he can operate AOCA's activities smoothly. AOCA dispatched Dr. Akura to Nepal in July. Dr.Banerjee who is the director of Kedia Eye Hospital has visited to Japan from July to October and he has been trained the supersonic cataract surgery and cornea transplant at Asagiri Hospital and Kushimoto Rehabilitation Centre. Dr. Kuroda and Dr. Akura have visited to Myanmar for guidance in glaucoma surgery and medical activity in remote areas. Dr. Naito has been sent to Gaur Eye Hospital in February, June and November for guidance in surgery, which was one of the Narayani Eye Project. A brand-new Topcon operation microscope, which was 25% Kedia Eye Hospitalfs expense, was donated to Kedia Eye Hospital in July. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs authorizes the project which Kedia Eye Hospital offers eye mobile clinic in remote areas as one of the NGO subsidy. AOCAfs English website has been created in November. Dr. Itaru Kurozumi memorial fund which runs until next March has been established. Dr. Kagotani, Dr. Okada and Dr. Kashiwase have been sent the 4th Eye Camp in Indea(Dharamsara) hosted by the Hamoru and had surgery for the 56 cataract patients. Drs. Matsumoto, Dr. Miyaura, Dr. Sakamoto, Dr. Ito and Dr. Sengoku have been sent to the 6th Charikot Eye Camp and had surgery for the 89 cataract patients. Dr. Akura, Dr. Matsuda, Dr. Ueda, Dr. Sasao and Dr. Koo have been sent to the 1st Bhojpur Eye Camp, had surgery for the 109 cataract patients and attended about 2000 outpatients.

2004 Dr. Naito has been sent to Gaur Eye Hospital in February, June and December for the guidance in surgery as the Narayani eye care project. Dr. Itaru Kurozumi memorial fund was closed in March and this donation reached approximately 24,000,000 yen from 708 Japanese and 124 Nepalese. The eye camp report was published in June. AOCAfs secretariat has moved from Futami-cho to Koshienguchi-kitamachi in Nishinomiya. Dr. Dahar, a physician at Gaur Eye Hospital, was supported to study 3-year specialist course at the university in Nepal to become an Ophthalmologist. Nepalese medical engineers, Mr. Kiran and Mr. Niraj have visited Japan and accomplished the training of repair technology in ophthalmologic machinery. Gaur Eye Hospital has increased 62 beds in December and it now has 100 beds in the hospitalization ward. At the same time, Gaur Eye Hospital has built an accompanying facility, which can offer accommodation for the entourages of patients. Dr. Kagotani, Dr. Kashiwase, Dr. Okada and Dr. Ashiba, nurse Kawamura and translator Ogawa attended the 5th Eye Camp in Indea(Dharamsara) hosted by the Hamoru and had operations for the 65 cataract patients. There were only Nepalese ophthalmologists and staffs in Charikot and Bhojpur eye camps since Maoist broke the peace around these areas by blocking the roads and using of armed force. Therefore Japanese mission groups were not allowed to come in.
